DREAMPORT
The hotel links to guests through a combination of nostalgia and anticipation. Nostalgia comes from its appearance, inspired by the mill buildings once found on its site. It also comes from hotel sponsored programs that explore the surrounding town and its history through curated tours, shopping expeditions and lectures. Anticipation comes through its eclectic, cozy, lighthearted interior design, through its futuristic atmosphere, and through events planned at the hotel and geared towards the mid-21st century in philosophy, art, culture, and spirituality.
This 88 room hotel was created at Stantec for a site in Newburyport. A large wedding venue is planned for the hotel's fourth floor, above a simple three story brick volume that houses the lobby and guestrooms. A cafe, retail space, and a restaurant at the ground floor bring mixed uses to this building, extending the Newburyport's central business district westward.
